No Award Show – But See Those British Globes Shine!
How sad that the Brits were unable to bask in the glory of such a great night for British acting talent. The cancelation of the Golden Globe awards show meant that there was none of the usual fuss and glamour of red carpet chitchat and flustered acceptance speeches, but also that the actors were unable to shine in the spotlight of recognition of their work. For the British who work especially hard for recognition amongst the established American stars, and who get a chance to be shown on our British TV as standing side-by-side with old Hollywood. Whilst I believe everyone has a right to strike for what they believe to be better working conditions, I can’t help but feel that there are some things that ought to have been left alone – such as the awards ceremonies. These aren’t about making money, these are about giving recognition where it’s due. It’s way too bad that in a year when we did so well, the Globes were shadowed by the writers, who if they are successful in their efforts will actually benefit financially from the movies that are getting such acclaim at these awards. I think the only plus side to it was not having to look at the botox and liposuction administered body of the less than sharp Paris Hilton. Let’s hope that when the Oscars come about there’s at least some form of professional decency and they are allowed to go ahead on schedule. As for last night’s Golden Globes –..Go Brits! Well done!
