Most hated man in film?
I usually like to use my blog to talk about films and actors that I enjoy or admire; however, I have had a bad day at the Crown Oil UK office today, I am in a massively big sulk and I feel like taking out my anger on those few actors that I simply cannot stand. There are lots of reasons why I decide I do not like a particular actor. Often, they are not particularly bad; they are just overrated.

That is why I have rather large bee in my bonnet about Gerard Butler. Good lord, I could hear women across the country screaming in horror when they read that last sentence. Calm down, dear, I am not saying he is a bad actor. He’s even quite good in a “let’s get shouty and show off our muscles” kind of way (see “300” for the best example). Where things go wrong for Gerard is when he tries to do comedy. Women will tell you that they loved “PS: I Love You” but actually they loved the idea of the film. There was zero chemistry between the two leads, Butler looked uncomfortable all the way through and I couldn’t help wishing the Persian troops would hurry up and get there so they could put him and Hilary Swank out of their misery...
However, even my dislike of Gerard pales into insignificance compared to the most hated man in film. Tom Cruise. First; has he made a decent film since “Top Gun”? Second; what was that thing on Oprah all about? And finally; just don’t get me started on the Scientology thing. Although if I refused to watch a movie on the grounds that it had a Scientologist in one of the lead roles, I’d probably never got to the cinema, would I?
