A friend of mine works for Public Relations UK, a specialist beauty agency. He’s a very old friend of mine; we went to school together and shared one of my life changing experiences. When we were sixteen years old, we went backpacking in Cornwall together and it was my first real taste of true freedom. We wondered where we wanted to go, made our plans spontaneously, and rested our heads where ever we were when night came. It was amazing, and it gave me much of the confidence I hold as a person today.

However, since joining this PR Company, he has become more and more image conscious. We never cared what we did or how we looked, and of course that does change as you move into adult hood, however the extent to which it has happened is shocking me slightly.
Of course it is important to look presentable, especially in the work place. Someone who looks like they are doing good job is more likely to gain the respect from his colleagues and employers than someone who is working really efficiently but appears to be a big disorganised mess. My friend is taking it too far for me though. I was round his house to visit, and found him searching for ‘weight loss surgery uk’ on his computer. When I asked him about it he admitted that he has decided that he wants to have Chest Reduction surgery. What?! Chest reduction surgery? I tried talking him out of it, but he is convinced that he is too large and that he needs to loose weight. Worse than that, he is currently become unhappy as a person because of his weight. This guy has never had a weight problem, not really. Okay so he’s not the smallest of men, but he’s not fat or overweight at all.

The thing that upsets me was realising that working at this PR place has made him into an unhappy person. Before going there he was pleased with who he was and how he looked. Now he is very subtly miserable.
I am going to support him with his drive to have this surgery done. Why? Because he will be happier once he is smaller. The thing I can’t help but remembering is that the only reason he needs it, is because someone convinced him that he needs it. If he’d never thought about it in the first place, he would have been perfectly happy as he was.

According to Sky.Com news Portuguese police want to re-interview Gerry and Kate McCann and their sources say that an application is being prepared that will seek permission from the Home Secretary to allow them to do so. Apparently now they are back in the <country -region w:st="on" />UK, our laws protect them from answering questions that could prove them innocent –.Or guilty. Whilst there seems little point in the Portuguese police re-interviewing the McCann’s friends who have had plenty of time to get their stories “straight”, current events that are meant to reassert their innocence such as taking drug tests months after their little girl disappeared to prove they have medication in their or their children’s system is a bit late, and Gerry McCann’s claim of a possible stalker he’s just recalled seeing (like you see a possible stalker and leave your children alone?), seem to me to be fuel to the contrary. Methinks the couple doth protesteth their innocence too much in the light of increasing condemning evidence.

The rugby world cup has ended with England loosing out in the final to South Africa. Nine points was all that separated the two sides and in the end the South Africans, the stronger side deserved their win. They played magnificently throughout the tournament. All observers of the game whichever side they supported could quite clearly say that the Antipodeons were worthy victors of the Web Ellis Cup.

However, England should also look back with pride. Unlike the national football team, the rugby side never capitulated after the loss in the first match in the group stages to the South Africans as well. Since that match they have responded magnificently taking on the world cup with a gusto and perseverance that shocked the rest of the partakers of this competition. England before the tournament were written off as a weak side past their prime and after that first match, anyone who had said that they would reach the final would have been scoffed at. But it shows a remarkable amount of faith in the strength of character of the England squad that they never once looked for an easy way out nor did they look for excuses. Instead they worked together as a team. They proved to the world their strength of character and refused to give in until the final whistle. And for some reason they are paid an awful lot less than the football side.

Belgium. What a lucky, little country. Four months after a General Election, the politicians still have not managed to construct a working coalition between themselves in which to rule the country. The wrangling between the Dutch speaking north and the French speaking south has left a political divide so great, that no amount of political skulduggery can break the deadlock between the elected parties. And so, for now, the political life of Belgium is non-existent.

Has this instability plunged the country into turmoil? Has this unbridgeable divide made Belgium a candidate ripe for division? Are their riots on the streets? Is the economy in ruins? Is there a crisis in the middle of Europe!

Oh, they do not realise how lucky they are. No need to see their faces on the television spouting their lies. No need for unnecessary little laws in order to justify their posts. There is just simply no need for them anymore.

In Mid October, the town of Whitehaven on the Cumbrian coast became the first place in Britain to stop receiving analogue television signals. The switchover to Digital TV is underway and nothing can stop its eventual sweep across the country as one by one, all those aerials above the televisions will be rendered useless.

And goodbye to all of it. As far as I am concerned, most TV is tripe. It is called the ‘Idiot Box’ for a reason. Slouched in front of the sofa, brain dead and hypnotised in front of the screen. Well, when the switchover comes around to London, I won’t bother buying a set-top box and I will save on the cost of my TV licence. The biggest waste of time will finally be consigned to history as millions like myself without digital reception will wise up and realise that there is more to life than flickering images from a screen.

Paris Hilton has been sent jail for 45 days in LA for violating her probation. Well hopefully, please God. Her sentence should begin on the 5th of June, and the judge tried his best to make sure she wouldn't be allowed on work release, use of an alteranitve jail, or electronic monitoring instead of jail.

Seconds before the judge gave the decision, Paris was weeping and said: "I'm Sorry, Really I'm Sorry." The judge called out her rep Elliot Mintz in court, calling his testimony as "completely worthless." He also informed miss Hilton that he didn't believe that she was unaware of her license suspension, adding that she had paperwork in her car stating that her license was suspended.

That was as pathetic as expected from Paris! And that judge is a major hero! I had always dream of this moment seeing Paris finally get punished for her ways instead of congratulated in public, is like a dream for me!
Kate Moss was spotted leaving London restaurant China Tang at 9:30pm, but when she arrived home at midnight she had some white powder spots on her clothes. But that could be anything, right? I mean, who doesn’t play with powder when they go out these days? And you know how playing with powder can make you a little woozy– And there’s some powder that ‘accidentally’ slips in your nose, and it smells pretty! I’m not jumping to any conclusions here! I would never suspect Kate Moss of doing drugs until I am presented valid evidence! I mean if I was famous and intelligent like Kate, I would never touch anything such as drugs! And I trust her better judgement! But what kind of powder is that? Is it now a trend? Is playing with powder the new thing these days? What did she do? Does she juggle bags of baking powder? Or is it nose powder? I need to know, because if someone I admire as much as Kate Moss does it, I definitely want to do it too!

Shoppers will be let in to browse the designs for a maximum 20 minutes during the launch, while purchases will be limited to five pieces per person. To try preventing fights among shoppers when the doors open, each person will be able to buy only five items. This may also prevent clothes being quickly sold off on eBay.

Topshop is successful in Britain by selling its own brand clothes that are cheap enough and fashionable for teenagers and it has 2,000 umbrellas ready for queuing. During the next two weeks, the collection will be launched in another 21 countries, including U.S. Store Barney's. The collection will be ranging from 12 pounds for a tight-fitting vest to a leather jacket for 150 pounds. Moss's collection is expected to be vital in breaking the U.S. Market.

The fashion press believes that it is a good opportunity for Moss to find a career beyond
Modeling as she gets older.

The submitter of this article is Brigit Wiese, she is a contributor to Pet Gazette .
