Gisele Budchen is leaving ‘Victoria’s Secret’

Gisele Bundchen is reportedly stepping down as lead angel for Victoria's Secret because they refuse to increase her $5 million-a-year salary. Her sister confirmed that contract talks had broken down and a source says:

"Her demands were outrageous. She got a new lawyer who was unrealistic. Victoria's Secret doesn't care. They have five new hotter, younger girls debuting next year. And they won't have to deal with any craziness."

Well, I don’t know for sure because I’ve never worked in the field, but if I’m not mistaking Gisele’s job is to stand in front of a camera and occasionally walk down a path. Now for that, she should be thankful for getting a bag of peanuts and a bannana, because a monkey could easily take her job! Nice going Gisele! I guess you didn’t know how good you had it!

Kate Moss joins rich list and countdown to her collection begins

Kate Moss, (46), has been featured in the annual list of Britain's wealthiest elite for the first time and has becomes one of the UK's 100 richest women. The supermodel has an estimated fortune of £45 million, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

The queen of the catwalk, who is one of the world's most photographed women, is going to launch her new fashion range for high street retailer Topshop tomorrow. The look she pulls together for herself — skinny jeans and waistcoats, floral mini dresses and sawn off denim shorts — continues to drive global fashion trends.

Shoppers will be let in to browse the designs for a maximum 20 minutes during the launch, while purchases will be limited to five pieces per person. To try preventing fights among shoppers when the doors open, each person will be able to buy only five items. This may also prevent clothes being quickly sold off on eBay.

Topshop is successful in Britain by selling its own brand clothes that are cheap enough and fashionable for teenagers and it has 2,000 umbrellas ready for queuing. During the next two weeks, the collection will be launched in another 21 countries, including U.S. Store Barney's. The collection will be ranging from 12 pounds for a tight-fitting vest to a leather jacket for 150 pounds. Moss's collection is expected to be vital in breaking the U.S. Market.

The fashion press believes that it is a good opportunity for Moss to find a career beyond
Modeling as she gets older.

Shoppers are going mad for £5 bag

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, thousands of eager shoppers – mostly women – queued outside Sainsbury's 450 stores up and down the country. They brought with them sleeping bags, flasks of coffee and they aimed to exchange £5 note cash for one of Anya Hindmarch's limited edition bags. This little gem bag is an environmentally friendly cotton shopping bag, bearing the logo 'I'm not a plastic bag.

This bag is the result of a unique collaboration between Anya Hindmarch, global social change movement We Are What We Do, the creative agency Antidote and Sainsbury's and aims to bring the issue of re-usable bags to public consciousness. The reusable cotton bag became must-have accessories after Keira Knightley and Lily Allen carried them.

The very smart thing about this bag is that it's getting an important environmental message. The aim of the bag is to encourage shoppers to say no to plastic and opt for environmentally conscious shopping bags instead.

Bags were limited to one per customer and they were sold out within the hour yesterday.

However, by yesterday hundreds of bags appeared on the site of eBay priced from £50 to £155 as bids. This shows that not all of those who sacrificed a good night's sleep were environmentally-friendly souls and that some people are going mad as it is more a matter of fashion.

Make Medics Not War!

Ok can someone explain to me why it is that there are 10,000 more applicants (according to a BMA survey) for training positions than there are places available?  On the face of it, it’s logical.  There are 10,000 less places, thus creating 10,000 excess applicants.  But why is this?  Aren’t we crying out for doctors?  Isn’t the NHS so stretched that people wait years for surgery?  Isn’t this because we don’t have enough medical resources to speed up the system?

Where is the problem?  Is it in physical structure?  That we don’t actually have the space in our hospitals in which to house all these additional applicants?  Is it that we don’t have the funds to pay them?  Is it that we don’t have enough trained personnel with the time to supervise these trainees as they learn their profession?  Is it only a question of money?  Or is it a combination of all three?

Whatever the reason, we shouldn’t be looking at the amount of applicants versus places, but rather the amount of patients versus the amount of doctors!  My personal opinion is that it’s a question of pennies and the way they are wasted in current government spending.  It’s a question of priorities and shouldn’t the health of our nation’s population be more important than a war that can’t be won half a world away?
